Combe Diver Purchase

North Devon weather
can be deeply unhelpful at times....
If the wind has N, E or W in it there is
nowhere to hide and blowing over a
4-5 knot tide it creates a short sharp
sea that is horrible to be on.
1998 was a bad summer and we found
ourselves cancelling weekend on weekend.
Rather than let this destroy the season,
a group started travelling down to the Lizard
and Hope Cove and found more sheltered
diving.

Our own small inflatables were getting old
and were not suitable for the numbers involved
so they had to use chartered RIBs and shuttles.

At the AGM a proposal was put up
that we should consider buying a RIB.

The full report of the process of our decision
making can be downloaded by clicking here
(.rtf file 34K).

We funded the purchase without grant aid
as we have a rolling program of fundraising.
We did have to use our overdraft facility
but we are now back in the black.
