Lifting the boats
| Owning hardboats means plenty of work.
Each November the boats are lifted onto the harbourside for the winter, and remain there until April.
The lift is always scary - as the strain comes onto the strops there are plenty of gritted teeth.

April 2003
Lone Shark - newly painted - minus teeth.
Neptune - ready to go for the season - note the glorious weather.
Thanks to Anna Jones for the 2003 photos.
Any anxiety is well founded - fast reactions by one of our members (who very quickly learned to drive a crane)
averted a bad accident a few years ago.
Lifting and then clearing out the boats can take up much of a day. We always have a good response from members on lift days and usually hold a laying up party in the evening.
