Already a Diver?

Once you have completed the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) Ocean Diver course which allows you to dive to a depth of 20 meters (60 feet) , you have the opportunity to further your diving qualifications by pursuing additional training and certifications. The BSAC offers a progression of courses to help divers develop their skills and knowledge. Some of the qualifications you can obtain after becoming a qualified Ocean Diver include:

Sports Diver

This is the next step in the BSAC training system. Sports Diver builds on the skills and knowledge gained in the Ocean Diver course and introduces new ones, such as rescue skills and navigation. It allows you to dive to a depth of 40 meters (131 feet) with a similarly qualified buddy.

Dive Leader

After achieving Sports Diver certification, you can progress to becoming a Dive Leader. This qualification allows you to plan and lead dives, including those with less experienced divers. It also extends your depth limit to 50 meters (164 feet).

First Class Diver

This is one of the highest BSAC qualifications and requires a significant amount of experience and training. It includes advanced diving skills, extensive theoretical knowledge, and the ability to deal with complex diving situations.

Instructor

If you’re interested in teaching others how to dive, you can become a BSAC instructor. There are various levels of instructor certifications, including Assistant Instructor, Open Water Instructor, and more.

Specialty Courses

In addition to the core qualifications, BSAC offers a range of specialty courses that allow you to explore specific aspects of diving, such as wreck diving, underwater photography, nitrox diving, and more.

Remember that your progression in diving should be based on your comfort level, experience, and a commitment to safety. Always ensure that you meet the prerequisites for the courses you’re interested in and dive within your training and experience limits. Additionally, it’s essential to regularly practice and gain real-world diving experience to become a well-rounded and skilled diver.
